A contingent from the Andhra Pradesh Police detained Posani at his residence in My Home Bhuja apartments, located in the Raidurg area of Hyderabad on Wednesday night.
Despite his objections to the police operation, he was taken into custody and transported to Andhra Pradesh by road.
In recent months, Posani has faced legal action from police across various districts.
In November 2024, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Andhra Pradesh initiated a case against him following a complaint from Bandaru Vamsikrishna, a leader of the Telugu Yuvatha, the youth wing of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
The complainant asserted that Posani made false allegations and defamatory statements against Chandrababu Naidu during a press conference in September, claiming that the actor’s remarks damaged the Chief Minister’s reputation and incited discord among communities.
Posani, who held the position of AP Film Development Corporation Chairman during the YSRCP administration, has been charged under sections 111, 196, 353, 299, 341, 336 (3) of the Bharat Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

Additionally, Jana Sena leaders in Rajahmundry have also lodged complaints against Posani for his alleged derogatory comments regarding Pawan Kalyan and his family.
Legal actions have been initiated against him in Kadapa, Chittoor, Tirupati, Anantapur, Palnadu, and Bapatla.
The coalition government of TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP has been actively pursuing legal action against YSRCP social media activists and supporters who posted disparaging content about TDP and Jana Sena leaders during YSRCP's tenure in power.
