Amaravati, March 18 (NationPress) The Andhra Pradesh CID apprehended actor and former YSRCP leader Posani Krishna Murali on Tuesday for interrogation regarding a case filed against him for making offensive comments directed at Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and IT Minister Nara Lokesh.
Following his capture from jail, the CID transported him to the Government General Hospital in Guntur for a health evaluation. He was subsequently taken to the CID facility for further questioning.
On Monday, the Sixth Additional Junior Civil Judge in Guntur placed Posani under a one-day police custody order. He has been incarcerated since his arrest in Hyderabad on February 26.
Despite being granted bail in several separate charges, he remained imprisoned as the CID recently transferred him from Kurnool to Guntur under a Prisoner Transit (PT) warrant, after which the court ordered him to judicial custody for 14 days.
The CID initiated an inquiry against Posani last October based on a complaint from a leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
Posani, who previously held the position of Chairman of the AP Film Development Corporation, faces charges under sections 111, 196, 353, 299, 341, and 336 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
After his arrest in Hyderabad, he was taken to Annamayya district, where he was accused of attempting to incite discord among different societal groups. He was remanded to judicial custody.
Subsequently, the actor was transported to Kurnool on a PT warrant related to a case initiated by Adoni Police. He was incarcerated at Kurnool and later moved to Vijayawada on another PT warrant linked to yet another case.
Although he received bail from the courts, he remained imprisoned as the CID requested PT warrants for each case.
The YSRCP party asserted that the government led by Chandrababu has registered 17 cases against Posani due to "political vendetta".
The opposition claimed that the NDA government is plotting to obstruct his legal relief, with police filing cases statewide following his arrest and intentionally withholding case details to obstruct bail processes.
The government pursued PT warrants for each individual case, necessitating Posani's transfer across hundreds of kilometers—from Hyderabad to Vijayawada via Rajampet, then to Narsaraopet, Guntur, and Adoni in Kurnool district, back to Suryaraopet in Vijayawada, and finally to Guntur, as stated by the YSRCP.
Despite being 67 years old and suffering from heart and other health complications, law enforcement allegedly harassed Posani as part of a government strategy to exacerbate his condition, according to the opposition party.
