Prashant Kishor in ICU; Hunger Strike Continues

Patna, Jan 8 (NationPress) The Chief of Jan Suraaj Party, Prashant Kishor, has chosen to maintain his hunger strike even after being admitted to Jay Prabha Medanta Hospital in Patna on Tuesday as his health has declined.
Kishor has been fasting since January 2, protesting against the irregularities observed in the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination.
Dr. Ravi Shankar Singh, the Medical Director of Jay Prabha Medanta Hospital, voiced concerns regarding the possible complications arising from Kishor's condition.
"We have been encouraging him to eat, but he is determined to continue his fast. Presently, we are providing nutrition and medications through IV. While he is stable at the moment, complications could arise," Singh stated.
He noted that Kishor's test results have been received and new treatments will be implemented.
However, he stressed that there are no plans to discharge Kishor from the ICU until there is a notable improvement in his health.
"If Kishor’s condition remains stable after receiving the new medications, we may think about transferring him out of the ICU. For now, our main focus is to stabilize his health," he elaborated.
Kishor, on a fast since January 2 to protest against the discrepancies in the 70th BPSC examination, has sparked concerns among supporters and medical professionals alike.
Pavan Varma, the Former Rajya Sabha MP, expressed his worries regarding Kishor's declining health.
"Kishor's condition is stable but concerning. He is resolute about not breaking his fast, even being in the ICU. We have asked him to end the fast as his campaign for essential change in Bihar is a prolonged struggle that demands his health and energy. Nonetheless, he remains determined," Varma commented.
He criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his lack of engagement with the protesting BPSC candidates, labeling it as "administrative insensitivity."
"The Chief Minister's unwillingness to meet with the BPSC candidates illustrates insensitivity. While I condemn this behavior, I urge Prashant Kishor to take care of his health and continue his fight from a position of strength," Varma added.
Y.V. Giri, a senior lawyer at Patna High Court, echoed the plea for Kishor to conclude his fast, stressing the significance of his leadership for the youth of Bihar.
"The youth are in need of him. This struggle is extensive, and Prashant Kishor must recover to lead it effectively. I implore him to end his fast now and resume the campaign once he has recuperated," Giri urged.
Giri revealed that discussions with affected BPSC candidates have sparked plans to seek judicial intervention for justice.
"We are contemplating bringing the matter to the High Court. As we move towards legal action, it is crucial for Kishor to cooperate by regaining his health," he added.
