Prashant Kishor's Hunger Strike Persists Even After ICU Admission

Patna, Jan 8 (NationPress) The Chief of the Jan Suraaj Party, Prashant Kishor, remains committed to his hunger strike despite his admission to Jay Prabha Medanta Hospital in Patna on Tuesday following a decline in his health.
Kishor has been fasting since January 2, protesting against the irregularities associated with the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination.
Ravi Shankar Singh, the Medical Director at Jay Prabha Medanta Hospital, has voiced concerns regarding possible complications due to Kishor's condition.
"We have been encouraging him to consume food, yet he remains unwavering in his decision. Presently, we are providing nutrition and medication through intravenous means. While his condition is stable at the moment, it could potentially turn serious," Singh stated.
He further mentioned that Kishor's test results are in, and new medications will be prescribed.
However, he stressed that there are no intentions to transfer Kishor from the ICU until his health visibly improves.
"If his (Kishor's) condition remains stable following the new medication, we may contemplate moving him out of the ICU. For now, our main goal is to stabilize his health," he added.
Kishor, who has been fasting since January 2 to protest against the irregularities in the 70th BPSC examination, has raised concerns among his supporters and medical professionals alike.
Pavan Varma, a Former Rajya Sabha MP, has expressed alarm over Kishor's declining health.
"His (Prashant Kishor) condition is stable yet concerning. He is determined not to end his fast despite being in the ICU. We have urged him to terminate the fast as his quest for fundamental change in Bihar is a prolonged struggle that necessitates his health and vigor. Nonetheless, he remains resolute," Varma remarked.
He criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his lack of engagement with the protesting BPSC candidates, labeling it as "administrative insensitivity".
"The Chief Minister's unwillingness to meet the BPSC candidates signifies insensitivity. While I condemn this behavior, I implore Prashant Kishor to prioritize his health and continue his struggle from a position of strength," Varma added.
Y.V. Giri, a senior lawyer at Patna High Court, echoed the call for Kishor to conclude his fast, highlighting the necessity of his leadership for Bihar's youth.
"The youth require him. This battle is extensive, and Prashant Kishor must recuperate to lead it effectively. I urge him to break his fast now and resume the campaign post-recovery," he stated.
Giri revealed that discussions with the affected BPSC candidates have led to plans to seek justice through the judiciary.
"We are contemplating escalating the issue to the High Court. As we approach judicial intervention, it is crucial for Kishor to cooperate by regaining his health," he remarked.
