Prashant Kishor Admitted to Hospital Following Health Issues from Hunger Strike

Patna, Jan 7 (NationPress) Political strategist Prashant Kishor was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday morning after his health significantly worsened during a hunger strike that began on January 2, advocating for the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates.
Kishor, who had just been released from Beur Jail on Monday evening, required urgent medical assistance. An ambulance from Medanta Hospital in Patna reached his residence in Sheikhpura, where he was later hospitalized.
A physician accompanying the ambulance reported that Kishor was experiencing dehydration caused by his extended fasting. "He has not ingested food for several days, resulting in dehydration, gastritis, and pain in both the upper and lower abdominal regions," the physician explained.
A team of medical professionals at Medanta Hospital is performing a comprehensive evaluation of his health status.
Kishor had initiated a hunger strike at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, calling for the annulment of the 70th BPSC examination, which he claimed was plagued by irregularities. He was apprehended by the police early on Monday morning.
After his arrest, Kishor was presented before the Patna Civil Court, which granted him conditional bail on a bond of Rs 25,000. Nevertheless, Kishor chose not to adhere to the bail conditions and opted for judicial custody. The bail stipulations required him to abstain from similar demonstrations in the future, which he rejected, citing his allegiance to the principles of satyagraha.
"I was granted bail, but the stipulation was that I would not partake in such activities again. This struggle is for fundamental rights and justice. If raising one’s voice against injustices, such as the use of lathis on women and youth, is a crime in Bihar, then I am willing to face imprisonment. Bihar is a place where Mahatma Gandhi led the Satyagraha, and if doing the same here constitutes a crime, then I am prepared to commit that crime," Kishor proclaimed.
After rejecting the conditional bail, Kishor was placed under 14 days of judicial custody by the Patna Police. However, the court later granted him unconditional bail, resulting in his release from Beur Central Jail on Monday night. Following his release, Kishor reaffirmed that the movement, which originated in the historic Gandhi Maidan, would also find its resolution there.
