New Delhi, Oct 16 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu emphasized on Thursday that countries providing brave women and men to the noble mission of UN-led peace-keeping should unite to create frameworks that amplify the voices of troop-contributing nations.
Speaking to the Chiefs/Vice-Chiefs of Army during the Army Chiefs’ Conclave for United Nations Troop Contributing Countries, she stated, "We should also work towards more active engagement with local stakeholders. This will help create an environment in which peace is not enforced but nurtured through participative processes."
As the largest democracy, India firmly believes in multilateralism and adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter, she noted in her statement.
India takes pride in being a consistent contributor to UN Peace-keeping since its inception. Our peace-keepers have excelled in some of the most demanding operations worldwide, she remarked.
