Mumbai, March 20 (NationPress) Senior BJP leader Kirit Somaiya on Thursday called for an investigation into the Bangladesh connections of the mastermind behind the Nagpur violence, Fahim Khan.

In a communication directed to Nagpur Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal, he urged for scrutiny into Khan's involvement in various scams uncovered in Malegaon.

Somaiya’s appeal follows the court's decision to place Khan in police custody until March 21.

“Significant scams in Malegaon have come to light over the past four months, including a Malegaon Vote Jihad funding scam amounting to Rs 22 crore and a scam involving 3,978 fraudulent birth certificates from Bangladesh. Khan has also made visits to Malegaon during the Vidhan Sabha elections where he established an office for the Minorities Democratic Party,” stated Somaiya.

“More than two dozen arrests have been made related to the possession of caste certificates obtained through false documentation. A thorough investigation should delve into Khan’s involvement in the Malegaon scams as well as his affiliations with political and terrorist entities,” he continued.

Somaiya also mentioned that he learned about an inflammatory post circulating on social media that originated from Bangladesh, prompting his demand for police to investigate Khan’s ties to the country.

According to the FIR filed at the Ganesh Peth police station, the 38-year-old Fahim Khan is accused of inciting the mob.

Interestingly, it was Khan himself who approached the police station to provide a statement. He was the first individual to gather 30 to 40 people at 11 a.m. before a protest organized by Bajrang Dal and VHP calling for the removal of Aurangzeb’s grave.

Upon arriving at the police station to give his account, he accused the VHP and Bajrang Dal of inciting chaos through their protest. Subsequently, he rallied the crowd and incited them further, alleging that the police favor the Hindu community and do not assist them.

Previously, Khan had contested in the state Assembly elections but faced a significant defeat.
