Nagpur, March 19 (NationPress) On Wednesday, law enforcement apprehended Faheem Khan, the president of the Minority Democratic Party in the city, for allegedly planning the unrest that occurred on March 17 in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The police have identified Khan as the purported mastermind behind the communal disturbance that resulted in injuries to numerous individuals, including law enforcement officers.

Following his arrest, Faheem Khan was presented in court, where authorities were granted custody until March 21.

He is among 51 individuals named in an FIR filed by the police. Khan's educational background includes completion of up to Class 10.

The FIR states that the 38-year-old Khan is accused of inciting the mob. Interestingly, he was the first to visit the police station to provide a statement.

He reportedly gathered a group of 30 to 40 individuals at 11 a.m. prior to a protest organized by Bajrang Dal and VHP demanding the removal of the grave of Aurangzeb.

In his statement, Khan blamed VHP and Bajrang Dal for stirring up conflict by holding the protest. He then rallied the crowd and encouraged them, allegedly claiming that police forces are biased towards Hindus and do not assist his community.

The FIR lodged in Ganesh Peth references a conspiracy involving threats of rape, molestation, and misconduct towards women.

Preliminary investigations indicate a calculated effort to incite violence and attack police personnel.

Authorities are looking into how the mob acquired a trolley of stones and the logistics behind the large-scale gathering.

Previously, Khan had contested in the state Assembly elections but was unsuccessful.

Reports from the police indicate that a curfew remains in effect across 11 police station jurisdictions in Zones 3, 4, and 5 of Nagpur.

Residents in these areas have been instructed to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary and to avoid congregating in groups of more than five.

Meanwhile, daily life in most parts of Nagpur continues as normal, with public transportation operational and individuals attending to their daily activities.
