Outrage in Patna: Family Demands Justice After Youth's Fatal Beating
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, March 20 (NationPress) In a rally for justice, family members and local residents protested on Friday following the tragic death of a young man named Bittu, who was reportedly beaten to death by a group of youths in the Danapur police station area of Patna. The victim's mother expressed her anguish, stating, "We demand justice. My child has suffered a grave injustice, and we insist that at least two individuals be arrested by the police. We will not leave until this happens. What crime did my child commit to deserve such a brutal attack with bricks?"
She claimed that Bittu was attacked by a mob of 20 to 25 boys from behind. "The local MP, Ram Kripal Yadav, needs to be informed. Justice for my son is our priority," she added.
Authorities have collected bricks and iron rods from the site of the incident.
Confirming the attack, SHO Prashant Kumar Bhardwaj stated, "We received reports of a youth being assaulted. Upon our arrival, we found that Bittu Kumar had been violently attacked by miscreants. He was promptly taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Forensic teams are on-site, and we are currently interviewing family members. Further details will emerge after we analyze the CCTV footage from the area."
During the protest, Bittu's mother insisted, "There is no doubt about the attackers' identities; the CCTV footage will reveal them. The authorities are pressuring us to vacate this area, but why should we? I have devoted 25 years to raising my son. Shouldn't I be entitled to seek justice?"
She also shared that her younger daughter was set to marry in April and had already made all necessary payments. "The attackers even stole money from my son and struck him on the head with a gun butt," she lamented.
In support of her, Bittu's sister mentioned, "The footage was recorded last night, yet no arrests have been made so far."
Reiterating the call for justice, Bittu's maternal grandmother remarked, "I didn't have a son, so I raised my grandson as my own."
Bittu's mother claimed that the administration had sent female police officers to remove them from the protest site.
