Punjab BJP passes no-confidence motion against AAP govt at 'Janta Di Vidhan Sabha'

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab on 1 May unanimously passed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government at its symbolic 'Janta Di Vidhan Sabha' — a makeshift people's Assembly set up at the party's office in Chandigarh. Members raised slogans against the state government and demanded Mann's impeachment over a range of governance failures, including an allegation that he appeared in an inebriated state in the legislative Assembly.

The symbolic session, modelled on a legislative proceeding, condemned the AAP government on multiple counts — from alleged disregard for High Court directions to a perceived collapse in law and order. The motion was presented by BJP working President and Pathankot MLA Ashwani Sharma, who accused the government of being anti-employee and ignoring critical issues such as gangsterism, drug deaths, and deteriorating public order. Sharma alleged that AAP's politics is built on untruth and that its flagship promise to make Punjab drug-free has completely failed.
