Moga (Punjab), Jan 15 (NationPress) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal stated on Thursday that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has perpetrated a grave sacrilege against the Sikh Gurus and called upon the 'Maha Purakhs' to take heed of this matter.
During a conference held at Takhtapura Sahib to commemorate the Maghi Mela, Badal expressed, "I have witnessed the video. It is appalling what is being done by someone in the Chief Minister’s position. The 'Maha Purakhs' in our community must take notice. Those like Baljit Singh Daduwal and Dhian Singh Mand, who defamed SAD on this sensitive issue, should also clarify their silence now."
He further remarked that incidents of sacrilege began occurring in Punjab in 2015, coinciding with the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) entry into the state in 2014.
"These acts were initiated to create divisions within the Sikh community and tarnish the image of SAD," he asserted.
Badal claimed that the AAP-led Punjab government is even attempting to ensnare him in a fabricated case, but he emphasized, "I will not be intimidated by such tactics. The Guru Sahiban have taught us to stand against oppression, and I will continue to speak out against the 'anti-people' and 'anti-Punjabi' policies of this corrupt administration."
He urged the people of Punjab to lend their unwavering support to SAD, stating, "We do not need to make guarantees like the Congress and AAP, who have never fulfilled their promises, as Punjabis have faith in our commitments. We have consistently delivered on our promises, such as providing free electricity to farmers and implementing innovative social welfare schemes like old age pensions, aata-daal, Shagun, and SC scholarships."
Badal announced that once SAD regains power in the state in 2027, it will further broaden its "pro-farmer," "pro-poor," and "pro-youth" initiatives, including providing free tubewell connections to all marginalized farmers.
He pointed out that Punjab's water is unlawfully flowing into the Rajasthan canal, as Punjab holds exclusive rights over it under the Riparian principle. The SAD government would put a stop to this flow and redirect the water to Punjab's farmers' fields.
Additionally, he declared that pipes would be installed to ensure canal water reaches the tail ends.
