Chandigarh, March 11 (NationPress) The Punjab Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Lal Chand Kataruchak, has made an urgent appeal to the Union government to guarantee an ongoing supply of vital commodities such as LPG, petrol, and diesel, especially considering the current conflict-like conditions in the West Asian region.
During a meeting with officials from the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), the Minister highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure an uninterrupted flow of supplies and to prevent public panic.
In his address, Minister Kataruchak stated: “Given the conflicts occurring in West Asia, it is imperative that the Union government ensures there is no lack of essential goods like LPG, petrol, and diesel so that the public remains unaffected.”
The Minister also called upon the high-powered committee established by the Union government to stay alert and implement necessary measures to assure sufficient supplies.
“The high-powered committee set up by the Union government must act to alleviate any public concern regarding the unstable situation in West Asia,” he added.
Additionally, the Minister instructed senior officials to keep a vigilant watch on developments at the district level.
He urged them to organize meetings with Deputy Commissioners and District Food Supply Controllers, while also involving representatives from gas companies to ensure seamless coordination.
“Senior officials of the department should convene with Deputy Commissioners and District Food Supply Controllers, including gas company representatives, to guarantee that essential goods supply remains uninterrupted,” emphasized Kataruchak.
He cautioned against any attempts to manipulate the supply of essential goods, making it clear that stringent actions would be enforced against those who violate these protocols.
“There should be no illegal hoarding of essential items. Any individuals found hoarding will face strict consequences,” reiterated Kataruchak.
