Chandigarh, May 21 (NationPress) In a significant development, the Anti Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of Punjab Police, alongside Faridkot Police, has successfully apprehended two associates linked to the foreign-based gangster Arsh Dala, announced Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Vishal Singh, hailing from Sri Muktsar Sahib, and Onkar Singh, a resident of Gamewala village in Ferozepur.

Authorities have also seized two .30 bore pistols along with six cartridges from their possession.

DGP Yadav indicated that initial investigations suggest Vishal Singh, who was recently released on bail, was plotting to eliminate a rival gang member.

The accused was reportedly in constant contact with his overseas handlers, awaiting instructions to carry out a high-profile crime in Punjab, he elaborated.

The DGP noted that further inquiries are ongoing to uncover additional associates and to establish both backward and forward connections related to this case.

Detailing the operation, Additional Director General of Police (AGTF) Promod Ban stated that AGTF teams, led by DSP Rajan Parminder, tracked the suspects based on human intelligence and gathered information, locating them within Faridkot's jurisdiction.

In a coordinated effort, Faridkot Police apprehended both suspects near Dana Mandi Chownk in Sadiq and recovered firearms from them.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pragya Jain mentioned that both detainees have a criminal history, with cases filed against them related to attempted murder, fraud, and violations of the Arms Act.

Previously, police dismantled a Pakistan's ISI-supported Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module managed by foreign handlers Maninder Billa and Mannu Agwan, following directives from terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda. This led to the arrest of six individuals involved in a thwarted grenade attack outside a liquor store in Batala.

Reports indicate that a group of youths on motorcycles had thrown a hand grenade outside a liquor vend in the Focal Point area of Batala on May 17, which fortunately did not detonate due to a faulty mechanism, thus averting a potential disaster.
