Tarn Taran, March 30 (NationPress) In a major breakthrough, the Punjab Police successfully dismantled a trans-national drug trafficking operation on Sunday, arresting two individuals involved in collaboration with smugglers from Pakistan. A substantial quantity of 6 kg heroin was confiscated from their possession, as reported by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav during a press briefing, where he also detailed the operational methods employed by the traffickers based in Tarn Taran.

The DGP disclosed that drones were utilized to transport drug shipments into the state from beyond the border.

The suspects have been named as Hardeep Singh alias Deep and Harjeet Singh, both inhabitants of Village Thathi Sohal in Tarn Taran. Authorities have also seized their Swift car, which was being used for drug transportation.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, initial investigations indicate that the arrested individuals were in direct communication with Pakistan-based smugglers known as Billa and Shah, who have been supplying drug consignments from across the border.

Ongoing investigations are aiming to identify both upstream and downstream connections related to this case.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Ferozepur range, Harmanbir Singh Gill, mentioned that efforts are underway to reveal the complete network of suppliers, distributors, and consumers, in addition to determining the total amount of narcotics received by the arrested suspects to date.

Providing insights into the operation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhimanyu Rana shared that the operation was executed by a team from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) in Tarn Taran, supervised by DSP (D) Rajinder Minhas and DSP Gurinderpal Singh Nagra, leading to the apprehension of the suspects in the vicinity of Village Bhusse and the recovery of the illegal substances.

A case has been filed under sections 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act at Sarai Amanat Khan Police Station in Tarn Taran.
