Chandigarh, Dec 14 (NationPress) The Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar has successfully dismantled a significant drug supply network associated with international smugglers, leading to the arrest of four individuals, as reported by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Sunday.
Authorities seized four kilograms of heroin, Rs 3.90 lakh in illicit funds, and a .32 bore pistol along with a magazine and five cartridges from the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Yuvraj Singh from Roriwal in Amritsar, Varinder Singh from Dhaul Kalan in Amritsar, Jagroop Singh from Sangna in Amritsar, and Jugraj Singh from Sarkaria Enclave in Amritsar.
Additionally, the police have confiscated their black Hero Splendor motorcycle and white Honda Activa, which were utilized for transporting the drug consignments.
DGP Yadav stated that intelligence reports indicated that associates, Yuvraj and Varinder, of a foreign handler known as Lakhwinder Singh, alias Baba Lakha, had retrieved a heroin shipment from the Ajnala sector and were preparing to deliver it to the suspect Jagroop Singh near Morcha Sahib Gurdwara in Amritsar.
In a swift response, police teams set up a trap and apprehended the trio along with the drug haul and a firearm, he mentioned.
During interrogation, Jagroop Singh disclosed that he was operating under the instructions of Daya Singh, alias Preet Sekhon, who is currently incarcerated at the Central Jail in Muktsar Sahib. Daya Singh had directed him to collect the heroin near Morcha Sahib Gurdwara.
Further questioning revealed that Yuvraj and Varinder informed the police about another associate, Jugraj Singh, who was also caught in Amritsar city, where Rs 3.90 lakh in drug money was seized from him. Ongoing investigations continue to unfold additional details.
