Chandigarh, June 21 (NationPress) In a significant achievement in the ongoing mission to ensure Punjab becomes a safer region, as instructed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has successfully dismantled a terror module linked to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) that was reportedly being managed by a UK-based handler named Dharam Singh, also known as Dharma Sandhu. This operation led to the arrest of a local operative, Onkar Singh, alias Nawab, from Jalalusma village in Amritsar, and the recovery of six advanced foreign-made pistols.
The firearms, which were smuggled across the Indo-Pak border via drones, consist of four 9MM Glock pistols and two .30 bore PX5 pistols.
According to DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the handler, Dharam Singh, has established connections with Pakistani terrorist Harvinder Singh, alias Rinda, and further investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of this network.
Commissioner of Police (Amritsar), Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, shared that this arrest stems from precise intelligence and coordination efforts. “During questioning, the accused revealed that the weapons were delivered via drones and were intended for disruptive activities,” he stated.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused forms part of a sleeper cell activated by foreign handlers aimed at destabilizing the region. “These weapons were to be distributed to local operatives for executing targeted killings and terror operations within the state. We are committed to uncovering the entire network and its international connections,” added Bhullar. A case has been lodged under Section 25 of the Arms Act at the Maqboolpura police station in Amritsar.
