Chandigarh, Sep 27 (NationPress) In a significant operation, the Punjab Police successfully extradited the wanted terrorist linked to the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) organization, known as Parminder Singh, alias Pindi, from Abu Dhabi in the UAE to India, with the assistance of the CBI and various other agencies, stated Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Saturday.
Reports indicate that Parminder Singh, hailing from Harsha in Batala, is not merely a criminal but serves as a crucial operative within a perilous terror-criminal syndicate.
He has been returned to India by a contingent of Batala Police. DGP Yadav highlighted that Parminder Singh has close ties to internationally recognized terrorists Harwinder Singh, alias Rinda, and Happy Passia, and is implicated in numerous grave offenses, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults, and extortion in the Batala-Gurdaspur region.
According to the DGP, the accused Parminder Singh was utilizing various social media platforms to orchestrate crimes and finance his illicit activities.
In response to a Red Corner Notice (RCN) requested by the Batala Police, a specialized team of four members, led by a senior officer, promptly traveled to the UAE on September 24. They coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the UAE authorities, fulfilled all legal requirements, and successfully brought the accused back to India to face justice.
This extradition illustrates the Punjab Police's unwavering stance against terrorism and organized crime, as well as their advanced investigative skills and global reach, emphasized the DGP, who added, "We extend our gratitude to the MEA, the Government of the United Arab Emirates, the CBI, and other central agencies for their invaluable support in this collaborative effort to uphold justice and enhance national security."
Providing additional insights, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Suhail Qasim Mir mentioned that due to the severity of crimes committed by Parminder Singh and his direct connections to Pakistan-based terrorists Rinda and Happy Passia, the CBI procured a Red Corner Notice against him through INTERPOL at the request of the Batala Police.
This international alert was crucial in tracking his movements and eventual identification in Abu Dhabi, he stated.
The SSP noted that with the arrest of Parminder Singh, the Punjab Police has effectively dismantled a vital link within a transnational terror network.
"This operation conveys a strong and clear message that the long arm of the law transcends geographical boundaries," he remarked.
Meanwhile, the CBI, serving as the national central bureau for INTERPOL in India, collaborates with all law enforcement agencies in the country via BHARATPOL.
