Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai on Tuesday reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to inclusive growth and equitable development across all regions of India, citing the Viksit Bharat vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rai made the remarks during a two-day visit to Nagaland, where he chaired a high-level review meeting in Mokokchung district.

Review Meeting in Mokokchung

Rai presided over a review meeting with Heads of Departments and district-level officers at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall in Mokokchung. Officials from various departments presented brief progress reports on centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in the district, including their achievements and challenges.

The minister stressed the need for clear priorities and well-defined action plans to ensure efficient delivery of public services. He underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, and timely implementation so that the intended benefits reach citizens on the ground.

Push for Organic Farming in Nagaland

Highlighting Nagaland's agricultural potential, Rai observed that the state's favourable natural resources and climatic conditions make it well-suited for organic farming. He called for the optimum and systematic utilisation of available resources to promote sustainable agricultural growth and improve rural livelihoods. This comes amid a broader Central push to integrate the North East into India's agricultural value chains.

Cultural Engagement at Ungma Village

Rai interacted with members of the Ungma Village Council at the community hall in Mokokchung, noting that India's strength lies in its diversity and the unique cultural heritage each region contributes. He acknowledged Padma Shri awardee Guru Sangyusang Pongener, lauding his contributions to preserving the community's traditional art and culture.

The minister also inspected the library-cum-museum at Ungma village, appreciating local initiatives to showcase the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Ao community and Nagaland at large.

Hospital Construction Under Purvottar Sampark Setu

During the visit, Rai reviewed the ongoing construction of a hospital building at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital, being undertaken under the Purvottar Sampark Setu programme of the Ministry of Development of North East Region. The programme forms part of the Centre's wider infrastructure push in the North East.

The visit signals continued Central attention to Nagaland's development priorities, with implementation of sponsored schemes and cultural preservation both on the agenda as the government advances its Viksit Bharat roadmap.
