Rajasthan: Arrest Made in Mumbai for Murder of Former ABVP Leader

Jaipur, December 1 (NationPress) Rajasthan Police have taken into custody a man implicated in the murder of a past ABVP district secretary in Churu, who was arrested in Mumbai.

The suspect, known as Amit Kaswan alias Mitla, had a bounty of Rs 15,000 placed on him.

In a bid to escape capture, the suspect turned to begging in Pushkar and Mumbai, mingling with beggars and resting among them to avoid detection.

The police executed thorough raids and scrutinized nearly 400 CCTV recordings to track his whereabouts, ultimately devising a comprehensive route map that led to his arrest, as stated by officials.

According to DSP Sunil Jhajharia, the victim, 28-year-old Narendra Prajapat, suffered a vicious assault resulting in his death with sticks and rods on November 1 near Dabla village in the Sadar police jurisdiction.

The murder is reportedly attributed to Amit Kaswan alias Mitla, Shubham Dhaka, and Hitesh Kumawat due to prior animosity. A case was lodged following a report from Prajapat's uncle.

The police, with the assistance of cyber cell data and informants, tracked Kaswan down in Maharashtra. He has since been arrested and transported back to Churu for questioning.

DSP Jhajharia indicated that Kaswan is also the primary suspect in a Rs 1.50 crore heist in Jaipur and has a history of 12 criminal cases against him. His accomplice, Hitesh Kumawat, was detained on November 11, while efforts continue to apprehend the third suspect, Shubham Dhaka, who is still at large.

To evade capture, Kaswan disguised himself as a beggar during the Pushkar fair and subsequently in Mumbai. The DSP noted that a specialized team led by SHO Balwant Singh was established to locate him. This team conducted operations across various regions, including Jaipur, Sikar, Fatehpur, Jodhpur, and Nagaur, ultimately resulting in the suspect’s arrest.
