Jaipur, March 4 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari revealed in the Assembly on Tuesday that the state government is set to roll out a mobile app aimed at enhancing tourist convenience.
This innovative app will provide vital information regarding nearby police stations, hospitals, tourist attractions, transportation options, and other essential details.
Furthermore, she pointed out that Tourist Assistance Force (TAF) booths have been established at prominent sites such as Jantar Mantar, Jal Mahal, Amer, Hawa Mahal, and Albert Hall to assist visitors. The TAF has effectively addressed tourist issues, managing 236 complaints in 2022, 311 in 2023, and 541 in 2024.
In addition, actions against 170 touts in Jaipur were executed in 2024. To boost tourist safety, the number of TAF personnel was increased from 139 to 250 in December 2024. During the Question Hour, the Tourism Minister reaffirmed that the development and conservation of tourist sites are high on the agenda. In this regard, the government has earmarked Rs 100 crore for the advancement of Jaipur’s walled city in 2024-25.
Additionally, she mentioned that the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) renovated an old structure at Chowra Rasta in 2015 at the cost of Rs 5.5 crore, converting its ground floor into a Tourist Facility Center. This center is designed to include a tourist reception area, waiting room, ATM, foreign currency exchange, cyber café, tourist bureau office, and various public amenities.
Discussions regarding its activation are currently underway, with a final decision expected soon.
In a written response to MLA Balmukundacharya’s inquiry, the Minister confirmed that the Tourist Welcome Centers at Tourism Bhawan and TAF booths at Jantar Mantar and Jal Mahal are providing crucial information and support to tourists.
However, there are presently no plans to create a separate tourist assistance and facility center in the Hawamahal Assembly constituency.
