Rajasthan Mines Department Achieves Historic Revenue of ₹6,340 Crore

Jaipur, Jan 9 (NationPress) The Principal Secretary for Mines in Rajasthan, T. Ravikant, stated on Wednesday that the Mines Department has accrued a revenue of ₹6,340.78 crore up to December this fiscal year, signifying a growth rate of 24 percent.

In order to set a new revenue collection record, the department has formulated a two-and-a-half-month action plan aimed at increasing efficiency and boosting revenue, as confirmed by Ravikant, with other officials indicating that show cause notices have been issued to four officers due to negligence.

During a review meeting at Khanij Bhawan on Wednesday, alongside Director of Mines Bhagwati Prasad Kalaal, Ravikant stressed the necessity of ongoing monitoring and accountability.

A comprehensive monitoring framework is now operational, with show cause notices dispatched to four officials including the Sojat Mining Engineer, Beawar Assistant Mining Engineer (AME), Sawai Madhopur AME, and Rupwas AME for failing in their responsibilities.

Ravikant pointed out that the department had secured ₹5,131.26 crore by December in the previous fiscal year, while this year's revenue of ₹6,340.78 crore signifies an increase of over ₹1,200 crore.

He instructed the officers to hasten the recovery of both current and outstanding dues and to ensure the effective application of the departmental amnesty scheme by proactively engaging with defaulters and enforcing strict measures when required.

The action plan encompasses an accelerated auction of major and minor mineral blocks, particularly focusing on limestone, iron ore, and base metals, completion of procedures for initiating mining activities in auctioned territories to enhance production, employment, and revenue, as well as timely addressing pending Assembly inquiries and court cases, with a dedicated two-day initiative launched to tackle the backlog.

The Director of Mines, Bhagwati Prasad Kalaal, reported enhanced departmental monitoring frameworks to boost performance in all facets, including revenue collection and auctions.

Efforts are also being made to simplify the process of acquiring environmental approvals at the state level for leases and quarry licenses.

Pending cases are being prioritized for swift resolution.

Additional Directors and Superintending Mining Engineers from multiple zones, including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bhilwara, Bikaner, and Udaipur, shared updates on their advancements during the meeting.

Ravikant encouraged the officials to sustain the momentum and concentrate on reaching established objectives.
