Jaipur, Jan 24 (NationPress) The Mines Department has reported a remarkable rise in revenue collection for the current fiscal year, amassing Rs 7,451.63 crore by January 21, which is Rs 627 crore higher than the revenue collected during the corresponding period last year.
This achievement signifies the highest revenue collection by the department in this timeframe, demonstrating a growth rate of 9 percent.
To enhance revenue in the upcoming months of the financial year, the Mines Department has formulated a robust strategy. This approach focuses on maximizing collection from all potential sources and fortifying the monitoring system.
Principal Secretary of Mines, T. Ravikant, conducted a comprehensive review of the revenue collection strategy during a meeting with senior officials, including Director of Mines, Mahaveer Prasad Meena.
He urged officials to prioritize revenue recovery and ensure the efficient execution of departmental duties. During this gathering, Ravikant instructed them to act swiftly regarding panchnamas related to illegal mining. He also emphasized the necessity to closely monitor royalty collection under RCC and ERCC contracts, and to finalize the auction of pending contracts, especially those nearing expiration.
Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of regular reviews, analyses, and guidance on revenue collection at the SME level, alongside continuous oversight by the department's Finance Officer.
The Principal Secretary additionally directed officials to work collaboratively with offices lagging in revenue collection to expedite recovery, ensure the collection of old dues, and achieve 100 percent recovery of current obligations.
He stressed that despite the positive performance, continuous and intensified efforts are essential for optimal revenue realization from all available sources.
Director of Mines, Mahaveer Prasad Meena, noted that last fiscal year, Rs 6,824.54 crore was collected up to January 21. In the current fiscal year, revenue collection has surged to Rs 7,451.63 crore for the same period.
He expressed optimism that the rate of revenue collection will further increase in the months ahead.
The meeting included participation from Joint Secretary of Mines, Arvind Saraswat, and Finance Officer, Suresh Chandra Jain. Additional Director (Headquarters) Mahesh Mathur, Special Officer Krishna Sharma, and Superintending Geologist (Aerial Survey) Sunil Kumar Verma were also present. Superintending Mining Engineers from Ajmer, Jaipur Vigilance, Udaipur, Bhilwara, Jodhpur, and Rajsamand, along with other senior officials, participated.
