Jaipur, May 20 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, the Mahwa Police in Dausa district of Rajasthan have successfully resolved a case involving the misappropriation of 22 tonnes of Desi Ghee valued at Rs 1.20 crore in just five days.
The ghee, which was initially dispatched from the Dauji Milk Factory in Mahwa, was meant for delivery to Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. However, it was redirected and concealed with the intent of illicit resale.
According to SP Sagar Rana, the investigation began when Ashok Kumar Jatav, the manager at Milk Food Pvt. Ltd. in Tikri Jafran village, reported that their contracted driver, Sanjay Malviya, had departed on May 11 with a tanker carrying 21.85 tons of Desi Ghee. When the tanker did not arrive at its destination, the driver falsely claimed that an accident had occurred, leading to the spillage of all the ghee on the highway.
Despite this serious allegation, no accident report was filed, and neither the driver nor the transporter's workers, including Rohit and transport company owner Yogendra Dev Pandey, informed the police or the company.
Suspecting foul play, the Mahwa Police registered a case and initiated an investigation. In light of the severity and magnitude of the fraud, a special investigation team was established under Circle Officer Deepak Meena and SHO Rajendra Kumar Meena, following directives from Jaipur Range IG Ajay Pal Lamba, SP Sagar Rana, and Addl. SP Gurusharan Rao.
The team utilized route maps, surveillance footage covering over 800 km across Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, and technical assistance from the Cyber Cell to trace the suspects' movements.
Constable Bhagirath played a crucial role by gathering intelligence and BTS data, as well as analyzing CDRs, CAF IDs, and suspicious mobile numbers—totaling over 100.
After extensive tracking, the team apprehended four members of an inter-state criminal gang, including Sanjay Malviya (40), a resident of Agar, Madhya Pradesh, currently living in Etawah; Yogendra Dev Pandey (55), from Madhavnagar, Ujjain, MP; Rohit Prajapat (24), from Shadalpur, Dhar, MP; and Pawan Baghel (27), hailing from Bamor, Morena, MP.
During questioning, it was disclosed that the stolen ghee had been concealed in the Om Shankar Milk Factory in Dholpur. The police seized 18 tons of Desi Ghee and a 12-wheel tanker, together valued at Rs 1 crore.
The accused were reportedly attempting to sell the ghee when law enforcement intervened. The police are continuing their investigation to recover the remaining 3.85 tonnes of Desi Ghee, with all suspects being interrogated for additional leads and connections.
