Rajasthan CM Urges District Collectors to Evaluate Crop Damage from Heavy Rains
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 21 (NationPress) In a decisive move, the Rajasthan government has instructed all District Collectors to swiftly evaluate the crop damage inflicted by the recent heavy rains across various regions of the state.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma emphasized the importance of conducting ground surveys and submitting comprehensive reports as soon as possible to facilitate timely assistance to the farmers affected.
“District Collectors have been directed to promptly carry out assessments and provide reports at the earliest for a thorough evaluation of the damage faced by our farmer community due to the heavy rainfall,” stated the Chief Minister.
Officials are tasked with a detailed analysis of crop losses, especially in districts severely impacted by the rains, to ensure that compensation and relief measures can be implemented without any delay.
Reiterating the government’s dedication to farmers, Sharma remarked, “The prosperity of Rajasthan is built upon the efforts of our farming community. The state government stands by you with utmost care and responsibility.”
He further highlighted that delivering timely support to the farmers who have been adversely affected is a primary focus for the administration.
“Our highest priority is to provide prompt and sufficient assistance to every impacted farmer, and the government is wholly committed to this cause,” he added.
This directive follows reports of damage to standing crops due to rainfall in several regions, heightening concerns among farmers regarding potential agricultural losses.
The state government’s initiative aims to enable a swift assessment and distribution of relief to lessen the impact on the farming community.
Notably, a strong and atypical western disturbance has been affecting weather patterns throughout Rajasthan for the past three days, leading to thunderstorms and rainfall in various areas, including Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, and Sikar.
Instances of hailstorms have also been reported in certain regions. Additionally, snowfall in the Himalayan area has contributed to a significant drop in temperatures, offering relief from the recent heat and introducing a chill to the environment.
The Meteorological Department has indicated that another western disturbance is expected to activate, bringing possible light rain and thunderstorms to parts of northeastern and western Rajasthan on March 21 and 22.
However, the unseasonal rains have resulted in considerable crop damage throughout the state, diminishing farmers’ hopes and raising alarms over agricultural losses.
Over the last 24 hours, most districts have experienced a sharp decline in maximum temperatures by 4 to 5 degrees Celsius.
The most significant drops were recorded in Karauli (down by 8.3 degrees Celsius) and Chittorgarh (down by 6.8 degrees Celsius).
In Jaipur, the maximum temperature decreased by 4.1 degrees Celsius to 26 degrees Celsius, while the minimum dropped by 5.3 degrees Celsius to 16.1 degrees Celsius. The sudden weather changes have prompted residents to revert to warmer clothing, particularly in the early morning and evening hours.
