New Delhi, June 27 (NationPress) - The Sugamya Bharat App (SBA), a prominent initiative by the Government of India aimed at improving accessibility for individuals with disabilities and senior citizens, has been upgraded to offer a more user-friendly and effective experience, as announced by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on Friday.
This upgrade includes several enhanced features such as a more intuitive and user-friendly interface, alongside an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot designed to assist users in real-time.
The app will also provide updates and notifications regarding new initiatives aimed at enhancing accessibility and integrating various government schemes along with other essential resources for individuals with disabilities.
As of June 25, the app boasts 14,358 total registered users and has recorded 83,791 downloads (82,291 on Android and 1,500 on iOS), according to the ministry.
Initially launched in 2021 by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), the app acts as a crucial platform for citizens to report accessibility challenges across public infrastructure, transportation, and information and communication technology (ICT) systems.
Users have the capability to upload geo-tagged images of locations where accessibility obstacles are present, allowing authorities to act swiftly.
Significantly, the app has received 2,705 complaints since its launch, with 1,897 resolved successfully, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for all.
The DEPwD continues to urge the public to engage actively in reporting accessibility issues and to support the government’s vision of a barrier-free India.
