Revanth Reddy Attributes Rising Defections in Politics to Absence of Ideology

Hyderabad, Jan 12 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed his concerns on Sunday regarding the rising defections in politics, pointing to the absence of a coherent ideology and the lack of student engagement in political matters. He criticized the trend of leaders switching parties purely for personal gain and highlighted the importance of ideological commitment among students involved in politics.

According to him, students who are aligned with party ideology demonstrate unwavering loyalty to their political factions.

While addressing an event for the launch of former Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao's autobiography ‘UNIKA’, Revanth Reddy commended Rao for his steadfast adherence to ideology during his time in student politics at Osmania University.

He recognized Vidyasagar Rao's significant contributions as the governor of two states, praising him for maintaining the integrity of Telangana.

Revanth Reddy noted that it is truly remarkable that Vidyasagar Rao has navigated five decades in active politics without facing any accusations, positioning him as a role model for society in Telangana.

The Chief Minister expressed his concerns about the declining standards of universities, stating that they are on the brink of losing their prestige and relevance. He emphasized that it is crucial for students to engage actively in political affairs at universities.

He asserted that upon taking office, he made it a priority to restore the former glory of universities, recalling the vital role that university students played during the Telangana movement.

He remarked that the political involvement of students was instrumental in the establishment of the Telangana state. He also called upon Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with other BJP and BRS leaders, to assist in obtaining the Centre's approval for the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro.

He pointed out that, after the completion of the first phase, Hyderabad Metro boasted the second-longest network in India, which has now diminished to the ninth position.

Revanth Reddy stressed that Hyderabad is not merely competing with Amaravati but with cities around the globe, underscoring the urgent need for Metro expansion.

He mentioned that 60 percent of Telangana's revenue is generated from Hyderabad and reiterated his vision of transforming Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy.

The Chief Minister revealed that he has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to approve the construction of a regional ring road and regional ring rail to enhance Hyderabad's status as a global city.

He also requested the Centre to allocate a dry port to Telangana, given that it is a landlocked state, and emphasized the need for the Centre to expedite the completion of the Kazipet Railway Coach Factory.

Revanth Reddy stated that he harbors no differences with anyone and intends to meet with all stakeholders to seek their cooperation for the development of Telangana.

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya shared his experiences of working alongside Vidyasagar Rao for 40 years, highlighting Rao's efforts to strengthen ABVP and BJP in the state.

Dattatreya reminisced about Vidyasagar Rao's commitment to promoting the significance of Godavari waters for Telangana.

Vidyasagar Rao remarked that leaders, regardless of their party affiliations, possess nationalist sentiments.

He pointed out that harnessing the potential of the youth is a challenge that current leaders must address.

He praised Revanth Reddy for his initiative ‘HYDRA’ aimed at preserving lakes and other natural bodies, and called for the establishment of a similar organization to tackle the challenges faced by tribals concerning their lands.
