New Delhi, April 3 (NationPress) The Indraprastha Cultural Festival 2026, a three-day event organized by the Delhi government, commenced on Friday. Art and Culture Minister Kapil Mishra termed it a vital opportunity to reshape the city’s civilizational identity.

As the Chief Guest during the opening session, Mishra referred to the festival as “an essential stride towards a cultural revival.”

“The choice of the name ‘Indraprastha’ serves as a cultural declaration in itself, symbolizing an attempt to restore Delhi’s historical and civilizational essence, which has often been viewed through a narrow lens,” he explained.

This festival, taking place from April 3 to 5 at the India Habitat Centre, unites over 100 distinguished speakers and features more than 50 cultural performances, literary discussions, youth town halls, and special exhibitions, showcasing both India’s rich civilizational heritage and modern cultural dialogues on a unified platform.

Commending Sangam Talks and all involved contributors, Mishra stated, “Platforms fostering dialogue grounded in facts, logic, and evidence are crucial in guiding society. When discussions are driven by scientific reasoning and credible data, misinformation and falsehoods naturally recede.”

Emphasizing Delhi’s diverse cultural landscape, Mishra noted, “Delhi, often referred to as a ‘Mini India’, embodies the cultural expressions from every corner of the nation. Here, festivals and traditions from across India are celebrated with vibrancy and depth. This encapsulates Delhi’s true identity, and continuous efforts are being made to fortify it.”

Discussing key cultural initiatives implemented by the Delhi government over the previous year, he remarked, “Cultural activities in the capital have been revitalized with renewed enthusiasm and scale.”

“Events like Deepotsav at Kartavya Path, large-scale Chhath Puja celebrations along the banks of the Yamuna, extensive observance of Teej and Navratri, alongside active youth participation through university-led initiatives, have collectively enriched Delhi’s cultural awareness,” he stated.

Encouraging more public involvement, he mentioned, “The Indraprastha Cultural Festival provides citizens with a chance to engage with and grasp Delhi’s genuine history, which has not always been accurately represented.”
