Patna, July 4 (NationPress) Following Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM signaling its desire to align with the Mahagathbandhan as the Bihar Assembly elections approach, RJD MP Manoj Jha responded thoughtfully, hinting to Owaisi and his party that there are times when abstaining from election participation can achieve a more significant goal.
A letter from AIMIM’s Bihar unit president Akhtarul Iman formally sought to join the opposition coalition, suggesting a possible shift in the state’s political landscape.
“I would like to convey to Owaisi that elections often embody a profound meaning, a sentiment, and a collective awareness that evolves over time,” stated Manoj Jha.
He highlighted the advancements made under Tejashwi Yadav’s leadership in the Mahagathbandhan. “Under the guidance of Tejashwi ji, the Grand Alliance has established a clear agenda focused on creating jobs, ensuring social security pensions, alleviating electricity bill burdens, minimizing bureaucratic issues during surveys, and instituting a governance framework where officials are accountable to the citizens. There are also tailored initiatives for students and the youth,” he elaborated.
Jha urged AIMIM to grasp the urgency of uniting against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its ideological stance. “There are pivotal moments in history where abstaining from electoral participation can also serve a noble cause. If your aim is to counter the authoritarian and hate-driven nature of the BJP, then even stepping back from the electoral competition can aid that mission. I trust Owaisi will recognize this,” he concluded.
AIMIM made a notable entrance into Bihar politics during the 2020 Assembly elections, securing five seats in the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region, establishing the party as an emerging political player in the state.
However, the dynamics shifted dramatically in June 2022, when four of the five AIMIM MLAs defected to the RJD, leaving Akhtarul Iman as the sole representative loyal to Owaisi. This defection significantly undermined AIMIM’s objectives of expanding its influence in Bihar.
