New Delhi, June 4 (NationPress) Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader and former MP Malook Nagar vehemently criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his claims that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “surrendered” to US President Donald Trump during Operation Sindoor.
In an interview with IANS, Nagar labeled Gandhi’s comments as “irresponsible” and a “disgrace to the nation’s honor”. He stated, “In the current context, where Pakistan was compelled to capitulate, how can anyone assert that our Prime Minister surrendered?”
Rahul Gandhi made these controversial remarks during a rally in Bhopal, accusing PM Modi of “immediately surrendering” following a call from Donald Trump related to the India-Pakistan ceasefire agreement announced on May 10. “Trump signaled from the US, picked up the phone and told Narendra, ‘surrender’, and Narendra Modi ji complied,” Gandhi alleged.
Malook Nagar refuted this assertion, emphasizing that it was Pakistan that faced a setback, not India. “The entire globe is witnessing how India has penetrated deep into enemy territory. Our economy is now the fourth largest globally, and India is receiving accolades worldwide,” he remarked.
He further questioned, “If you claim the Prime Minister surrendered, are you suggesting he has forsaken the nation's interests? That’s utterly false. No child would believe that Prime Minister Modi surrendered. These are unfounded allegations.”
Nagar also accused the Congress party of damaging national unity and international reputation with such statements. “People worldwide will mock us if opposition leaders make such reckless remarks. This issue transcends PM Modi; it’s about India’s standing on the global stage,” he stated.
Describing Rahul Gandhi’s comments as “entirely reckless,” Nagar asserted, “We don’t require mediation from anyone. Our agencies and armed forces have made our stance clear. We’ve already dismissed any external intervention.”
He criticized the Congress for its internal inconsistencies, questioning, “Some Congress leaders assert that if Rahul Gandhi were in power, he would reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Does that imply Nehru and Indira Gandhi were inept Prime Ministers, and Rahul is superior? Are they now validating Rahul Gandhi's capabilities while undermining their own party’s legacy?”
Nagar concluded by urging the Congress to restrain its leadership and uphold national dignity, stating, “Such remarks from the opposition undermine the nation. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leadership should act more responsibly.”
