New Delhi, June 4 (NationPress) BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain on Wednesday vehemently condemned Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, for his assertion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had "surrendered" to the demands of the US President during 'Operation Sindoor', labeling the comment as "treasonous."
During an event in Bhopal on Tuesday, LoP Gandhi accused PM Modi of yielding to foreign influence in the course of a military operation.
"A call came from (Donald) Trump and Narendra ji immediately surrendered... history bears witness to this. This reflects the character of the BJP and RSS," he stated. He further ridiculed PM Modi, remarking, "Narendra ji complied with Trump’s directive to ‘surrender’ by responding ‘yes, sir.’"
In reaction to LoP Gandhi’s remarks, Shahnawaz Hussain told IANS, "This nation deserves respect, yet the Opposition continuously diminishes it. In matters of national security, unity is paramount. Rahul Gandhi has not only disrespected the Prime Minister but also the courage of the Indian armed forces. This 'Narendra Surrender' comment is intolerable."
He stressed that Prime Minister Modi had empowered the armed forces during 'Operation Sindoor', resulting in the obliteration of nine terrorist camps, 11 airbases, and the elimination of 100 terrorists.
"The entire world celebrated India’s prowess, yet Rahul Gandhi questions our armed forces. Even Pakistan has never claimed that Indian forces surrendered, but Rahul Gandhi is making such an assertion. This is nothing less than treason," Hussain told IANS.
Hussain further remarked, "We take pride in our armed forces. The Prime Minister is proud. The Opposition and all Indians should share this pride. However, Rahul Gandhi is merely echoing Pakistan’s narrative."
Addressing Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s comment about the BJP turning 'sindoor' into a mockery and questioning its connection to a "one nation, one husband" initiative, Hussain dismissed the remarks.
"He was a comedian prior to becoming Chief Minister, and at times that still shows. While he shows respect when he meets the Prime Minister, he often speaks irresponsibly. No one takes him seriously," he concluded.
