Guwahati, Nov 21 (NationPress) Assam is undergoing a remarkable transformation in its road infrastructure. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday that the state government is rapidly advancing the construction of high-speed corridors, bridges, and enhanced connectivity through the ambitious #AsomMala 3.0 initiative.

In a recent post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister emphasized that every district, bridge, and kilometre of road is becoming integral to a broader vision aimed at redefining Assam's transport network.

The AsomMala 3.0 project is set to unlock an impressive investment of Rs 3,217 crore to establish 883 km of high-speed corridors across 34 districts in the state.

“Every district, every bridge, every kilometre -- Assam’s road transformation is progressing at an unparalleled pace,” CM Sarma remarked, asserting the government's commitment to improving connectivity that has been lacking for decades.

As part of this initiative, 36 new bridges are being constructed at critical points to eliminate congestion, enhance accessibility to remote areas, and create seamless connections between rural and urban regions.

These enhancements are expected to significantly cut travel times, improve logistical efficiency, and enhance road safety for both daily commuters and commercial vehicles. Officials from the Public Works Department have stated that the new network of corridors will be pivotal in reinforcing Assam’s integration with its neighboring northeastern states and major national highways.

“The upgraded connectivity will also expedite the transport of essential goods, agricultural products, and industrial supplies, thereby bolstering the state’s economy,” a senior official commented.

The project is being rolled out in phases, with surveys, land acquisition, and groundwork already in progress in several districts. Advanced construction technologies, superior materials, and enhanced design standards are being utilized to ensure the longevity and durability of the roads and bridges.

Experts argue that the AsomMala 3.0 scheme will not only improve physical connectivity but also create new job opportunities and attract private investments in sectors like tourism, manufacturing, and trade.

With strategic planning and ongoing funding, the state government aims to establish Assam as a vital connectivity hub in the Northeast, thereby linking the region more effectively with the rest of India. The Chief Minister reiterated that infrastructure development remains a top priority for his administration and assured that work will progress rapidly in the upcoming months.
