Seema Devi's Inspiring Transformation: A Journey with Jeevika Yojana

Vaishali (Bihar), Jan 5 (NationPress) Seema Devi, a tenacious individual residing in Bihar's Vaishali, once encountered a period of despair as she struggled to manage her household. The situation escalated when her husband fell critically ill, intensifying her burdens. Juggling the demands of caring for her ailing husband while raising her children left her feeling uncertain about how to cope with this challenging time.

Today, however, she stands resolute, successfully managing her family and generating an income of Rs 1,000 daily—an exceptional turnaround she attributes to the Jeevika Yojana.

In an interview with IANS, Seema shared insights into her remarkable transformation.

"My husband suffered from respiratory issues, and during his treatment, I learned about the Jeevika Yojana from other women at the hospital. They motivated me to participate in the program, which paved the way for my inclusion in the scheme," she reminisced.

The initial payment of Rs 10,000 she received from the scheme served as her launchpad. Inspired by the support of her peers, Seema embarked on a new venture.

"With the assistance of the Jeevika group, I acquired a goat, sold it, and utilized the profits to establish a small shop," she explained.

Currently, her modest enterprise flourishes, allowing Seema to earn between Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200 daily.

"My children are now attending school and receiving the education they rightfully deserve," Seema expressed proudly, her face radiating the joy of a mother who has triumphed over adversity.

Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has commended the influence of the Jeevika Yojana, describing it as a lifeline for women throughout the state.

"Women previously faced numerous obstacles. However, with the establishment of Jeevika self-help groups, affectionately referred to as Jeevika Didis, women have gained the empowerment necessary to forge ahead. We stand ready to assist them whenever needed," he mentioned.

The Jeevika Yojana, a groundbreaking initiative within Bihar, provides financial aid to women from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through this scheme, groups of 10 to 12 women unite, form a collective, and open a bank account. Members of these groups can access loans to initiate small businesses, ultimately uplifting their families and communities. For women like Seema Devi, the Jeevika Yojana has proven to be a significant blessing, enabling them to overcome financial hardships and secure a brighter future for themselves and their families.
