Bhopal, Feb 23 (NationPress) A tragic incident unfolded in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday when seven individuals, among them three Maha Kumbh pilgrims, lost their lives in two distinct accidents, with three others suffering from severe injuries.
As per police reports, a head-on collision occurred near Devtalab when a vehicle returning from the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh crashed into a truck coming from the opposite direction. Two individuals died instantly, while a third succumbed to injuries at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa.
The deceased were identified as Rakesh Pardesi and Anjana Chaurasia, with a woman named Sarita Pardesi passing away later in the hospital.
The car's passengers, who hailed from Maharashtra, had recently participated in the holy Ganges dip at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
Reports suggest that the vehicle first struck a road divider before coming to a stop and subsequently lost control, crossing into oncoming traffic.
Among the injured, Shlok Pardesi, Geeta Pardesi, and another unidentified youth are receiving medical care, with two in critical condition, as per the sources.
This marks the fourth road accident in a fortnight that has resulted in the deaths of Maha Kumbh devotees on National Highway 30.
With the final day of the Maha Kumbh Mela approaching, an influx of devotees has led to significant traffic congestion from Rewa (400 km from Bhopal) to Prayagraj.
In a separate incident, a vehicle collided with a moving dumper truck in the Dhangaon police station area of Khandwa, resulting in four fatalities and two injuries. The injured, including a one-and-a-half-year-old girl, have been transported to a local hospital in Sanawad.
