Mumbai, Feb 15 (NationPress) Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC stated on Saturday that if former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is truly innocent, then why does he display fear regarding the inquiry by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
Shaina NC's remarks followed the CVC's announcement of an investigation into the luxurious renovations at 6 Flagstaff Bungalow, which was Kejriwal's previous residence.
In an interview with IANS, Shaina NC commented, “The CVC is fulfilling its responsibilities. Individuals residing in extravagant mansions while claiming to represent the ordinary citizen should be accountable for their opulent upgrades. An inquiry will reveal the facts — if Kejriwal is innocent, why does he fear? Let the investigation proceed and allow the public to discern who is genuinely ‘common’ and who is ‘special.’”
She also addressed the Opposition's criticisms regarding the opulence of Chief Ministers' residences, emphasizing the necessity for transparency in governmental expenditures.
“When public officials misuse taxpayer funds, it is imperative to inform the public. Accountability is essential, and that is precisely what the CVC is engaged in,” she declared.
Shaina NC additionally commented on the rising incidents of forced religious conversions in Maharashtra. On February 14, the state government established a committee, led by police chief Rashmi Shukla, to formulate a law to combat 'love jihad' and 'fraudulent' or 'forced conversions'.
“The Maharashtra government has initiated a seven-member committee to draft an anti-conversion law, yet the Opposition persists in resisting any legislation aimed at curbing appeasement. It's all about maintaining their voter base. Regarding Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), I would like to ask: Have you forgotten the legacy of the esteemed Balasaheb Thackeray? What was his position on the anti-conversion movement? What was his response to love jihad? Before making statements, I urge them to reflect.”
Further commenting on Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s remarks about reassessing the role of the Chief Justice of India in executive appointments, Shaina stated, “Numerous institutions, such as the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Election Commission, function independently, which is a hallmark of India’s democracy. Dhankhar is correct in asserting that the judiciary has its responsibilities separate from the executive. Each governmental body holds its own significance and function.”
Meanwhile, while addressing a gathering at the National Judicial Academy in Bhopal, Dhankhar questioned the Chief Justice of India's involvement in executive appointments, particularly in the selection of the CBI Director, arguing, “In a democracy, it is time to reevaluate whether the Chief Justice of India should engage in such decisions. The legal justification for this needs reconsideration, as it does not align with democratic principles.”
