Hyderabad, April 10 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) figure and former MLA Shakeel Aamir was momentarily taken into custody by law enforcement upon landing at Hyderabad Airport from Dubai.

The airport authorities detained him regarding an accident involving his son. A lookout notice had been issued for the ex-MLA in February of the previous year.

Shakeel Aamir returned to Hyderabad to participate in his mother's funeral, who had succumbed to illness.

The police allowed the former MLA from Bodhan to attend the funeral but indicated that he would likely be questioned later.

A lookout notice was placed against Shakeel Aamir for allegedly assisting his son Raheel Aamir, also known as Sahel, in fleeing to Dubai following the accident on December 24, 2023.

As per the police reports, the former MLA purportedly aided his son in evading police custody and implicated an innocent individual in the incident.

Sahel was operating the BMW that collided with the barricades outside Praja Bhavan, the official residence of the Telangana Deputy Chief Minister. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but both the barricade and the front of the vehicle sustained damage.

The driver, along with three passengers, fled the scene, abandoning the car.

Subsequently, an individual arrived to claim the deserted vehicle. A case of reckless driving was filed against him.

However, further investigations unveiled that Sahel, the son of the former MLA from Bodhan, had been behind the wheel. Allegations arose that police officials had allowed Sahel to leave while charging a driver employed at Shakeel's residence instead.

A total of 16 individuals were charged, including inspectors from Panjagutta and Bodhan police departments who allegedly assisted the accused.

Sahel was apprehended on March 8, 2024, shortly after arriving from Dubai, and was later charged for his purported involvement in another road incident that occurred on February 17, 2022.

In that incident, Sahel's vehicle struck a woman crossing the street with her two-month-old infant, resulting in the baby's death and injuries to three others.

Following the accident, three passengers fled the scene. Later, Syed Afnan Ahmed turned himself in to law enforcement and admitted to being the driver.

He informed the police that Sahel and another acquaintance, Mohammed Maaz, were passengers in the vehicle.

Nevertheless, after the 2023 incident, authorities reopened the earlier case for further investigation.
