Key Takeaways
Bhubaneswar, Jan 27 (NationPress) Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday urged the community to commemorate special events in their lives by distributing fruits to Anganwadi children in their neighborhoods, aiming to tackle malnutrition in the state.
This appeal was made during a special event at the State Institute for Women & Children (SIWC) in Bhubaneswar. The Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated the ‘Panchatatwa Park’, launched the ‘SUPOSHIT Odisha Mission’ (SOM), and laid the foundation stone for the Subhadra Resource Centre. Parida highlighted that the battle against malnutrition starts at home.
She called for empowerment of mothers at the grassroots level, equipping them with essential knowledge for their children's health. A significant point in her address was the concept of “localisation of nutritious food”, encouraging communities to utilize locally sourced, nutrient-dense foods instead of processed options.
In an innovative social initiative, she invited citizens to celebrate personal milestones, such as birthdays, by providing fruits to local Anganwadi children.
As per an official announcement, the ‘Panchatatwa Park’, inspired by the five key elements of nature - Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space - includes an acupressure path and an open-air gym, inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister on Tuesday.
Parida also laid the groundwork for the Subhadra Resource Centre and a 400-seat modern auditorium on the SIWC campus, with an estimated investment of Rs 35.70 crore.
This integrated facility, featuring a Toy Museum and a cafeteria, is expected to become a vibrant center for capacity building, research, and policy initiatives related to women and children.
While inaugurating the two-day ‘State-level Orientation-cum-Capacity Building Workshop’ under the Suposhita Odisha Mission, the Deputy Chief Minister stressed the mission's goal to empower Anganwadi workers at the grassroots level.
To ensure the comfort and dignity of preschool children aged 3 to 6 years, the Deputy Chief Minister also announced a considerable increase in financial support under the Malati Devi Prak Vidyalaya Paridhan Yojana.
