Shehla Rashid Describes PM Modi as a 'Just Administrator,' Chronicles Her Transformation from Critic to Supporter

New Delhi, Dec 11 (NationPress) Shehla Rashid, a former student at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and an activist from Kashmir, articulated on Wednesday why Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance is distinct from that of other leaders, and what led her to admire him after previously criticizing him. She referred to the PM as a 'just administrator.'
Rashid discussed how the Modi administration differentiates itself from earlier governments, particularly highlighting initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana that have positively impacted a broad spectrum of society.
In an interview with IANS, Rashid stated, "PM Modi is a just administrator. When he introduces a scheme, it is designed for everyone — whether it’s the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, or any other initiative. All individuals benefit, regardless of their background. Unlike past schemes, such as the Jawahar Rozgar Yojana, today’s processes are entirely digital. There’s no bureaucratic interference; it’s a fully transparent system allowing individuals to access benefits without corruption or favoritism.”
She noted that the digitalization of governmental services has diminished bureaucratic meddling and created opportunities for people nationwide, especially those from marginalized communities.
“Previously, there was evident bias, particularly against Muslim women. However, the current system is transparent, and anyone in need can readily access government benefits without intermediaries,” she asserted.
Rashid also emphasized that while PM Modi is dedicated to fostering development for all, he does not specifically cater to any religious group in his policies.
"PM Modi does not state that he is taking action for Muslims or Hindus. He addresses the needs of the poor, women, and youth. He avoids communal rhetoric and does not rely on votes from any specific community. His aim is for the Muslim community to gain self-sufficiency and independence," she claimed.
She accused certain political parties in India of believing that national development hinges on their return to power.
“The Sachar Committee report highlighted that Muslims have fallen behind even more than the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in India. The so-called secular parties have failed to integrate them into the mainstream. It’s not merely about awaiting government aid; it’s about self-empowerment. We must educate ourselves, train our youth, and prepare them for the future,” she explained.
Rashid’s message directed at the Muslim community and the nation was clear: The path forward lies in education and skill development.
"We must provide our children with the right exposure and skills to thrive in this swiftly evolving world. The emergence of Artificial Intelligence and the global economy are areas that demand our attention," she said.
"PM Modi’s message to us is straightforward: Cease waiting for someone to overthrow the government or provide handouts. Have faith in yourself and accept responsibility for your advancement."
Rashid further clarified the reasons behind her shift from critic to admirer of PM Modi.
"There is a single reason for this — PM Modi has inspired us with the vision of a developed India. His emphasis is on the country’s advancement. We face external threats from China, Pakistan, and anti-India sentiments globally. We cannot afford to be divided by language, region, caste, or religion. We must unite to construct a robust, developed India," she asserted.
Rashid stressed that India's priority should be on promoting unity and prioritizing national development, setting aside social divisions that can detract from the greater objective.
"The truth is that we must strive for a unified society. There are numerous adversaries of India, but the only way to confront these challenges is by concentrating on building a strong, developed India. That’s PM Modi’s advocacy over the years," she concluded.
