Ranchi, June 10 (NationPress) As the NDA government led by Narendra Modi marks its 11th anniversary in power, former Union Minister Smriti Irani emphasized what she termed as "historic milestones" achieved under the Prime Minister's guidance, spanning from financial inclusion to the empowerment of women. She noted that transformational changes have been evident in every corner of the nation.
In a conversation with IANS, Irani stated, "As BJP volunteers commemorate 11 years of effective governance, numerous accomplishments have made history. The inclusion of 50 crore citizens in the banking network through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) stands out as an extraordinary feat. Moreover, approximately Rs 45 lakh crore has been directly deposited into citizens' bank accounts via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer)."
Irani commended the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, which offers direct income support to farmers.
"Linking 11 crore farmers directly to the treasury seemed unthinkable, yet Prime Minister Modi transformed it into a success story," she remarked.
She also highlighted significant initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, which provides free healthcare to 10 crore families and 40 crore citizens, alongside the 33 percent reservation bill for women in Parliament.
"Supporting 10 crore women through 90 lakh Self-Help Groups, granting permanent commissions to women in the armed forces, establishing Sainik Schools for daughters, and allocating Rs 24,000 crore for tribal welfare under the Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan — these reflect the government’s commitment to serving all segments of society," she added.
Irani underscored the abrogation of Article 370 as another landmark achievement, stating, "From Jammu & Kashmir to Jharkhand, every region has experienced transformational progress under PM Modi’s leadership."
Addressing concerns regarding 'Operation Sindoor', the recent military initiative, she asserted, "Every Indian has the right to take pride in our military and honor their valor. Turning their bravery into a political issue is regrettable. Despite political differences, every citizen admires the Indian armed forces."
Responding to remarks from Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who accused PM Modi of "surrendering" to US President Donald Trump during a military conflict with Pakistan, she stated, "The government will address these matters in Parliament. PM Modi is a competent administrator and a compelling speaker. The government will thoroughly respond to any inquiries the Opposition raises."
