Ranchi, June 10 (NationPress) As the Narendra Modi-led NDA government marks its 11th anniversary in office, former Union Minister Smriti Irani emphasized what she termed as “historic achievements” under the Prime Minister's guidance, spanning areas from financial inclusion to women's empowerment. She asserted that every part of the nation has experienced transformational change during his tenure.
In an interview with IANS, Irani remarked, “As BJP supporters commemorate 11 years of effective governance, numerous accomplishments have made history. The connection of 50 crore citizens to the banking system via the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is an unparalleled achievement. Furthermore, approximately Rs 45 lakh crore has been directly transferred into citizens' bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
She praised the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, which delivers direct income support to farmers. “Linking 11 crore farmers directly to the treasury seemed unimaginable, yet Prime Minister Modi made it a successful reality,” she stated.
Irani also highlighted initiatives like Ayushman Bharat, which provides complimentary healthcare to 10 crore families and 40 crore citizens, along with the 33 percent reservation Bill for women in Parliament.
“Assisting 10 crore women through 90 lakh Self-Help Groups, granting permanent commissions to women in the armed forces, opening Sainik Schools for daughters, and allocating Rs 24,000 crore for tribal welfare under the Janjati Adivasi Nyay Maha Abhiyan — all demonstrate the government’s commitment to serving every segment of society,” she added.
Highlighting the annulment of Article 370 as another significant milestone, Irani stated, “From Jammu & Kashmir to Jharkhand, every region has witnessed transformational change under PM Modi’s leadership.”
Responding to criticism regarding 'Operation Sindoor', the Indian military’s recent offensive, she remarked, “Every Indian has the right to be proud of our military and honor their bravery. It is unfortunate to politicize their valor. Regardless of political affiliations, every citizen admires the Indian armed forces.”
In reaction to Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on June 3, where he accused PM Modi of “surrendering” to US President Donald Trump during a military conflict with Pakistan, she said, “The government will address such matters in Parliament. PM Modi is not only an efficient administrator but also a compelling speaker. The government will fully respond to the Opposition's inquiries.”
