Shiromani Akali Dal Demands Clarity from Punjab Police Regarding Attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal

Chandigarh, Dec 10 (NationPress) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia called on the Punjab Police on Tuesday to clarify their stance regarding the assassination attempt on party president Sukhbir Singh Badal. He questioned their characterization of the incident as a 'lone wolf' attack, especially given that a second assailant, identified as Dharam Singh of the Khalistan Commando Force (KCF), has been recognized as an accomplice.
Majithia presented video evidence from CCTV footage at the Sri Darbar Sahib complex, captured on December 3, showing that Narain Chaura, the ISI operative responsible for the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal, was not alone. He was accompanied by KCF terrorist Dharam Singh and another yet-to-be-identified individual.
"It appears that we have to play the role of identifying Chaura's accomplices while the Amritsar Police insists on labeling the event as a lone wolf operation," Majithia stated.
He emphasized that this incident was certainly not a solitary attack, accusing the Amritsar Police of downplaying the seriousness of the FIR by suggesting that a bullet was fired into the air during the chaos, rather than acknowledging that a member of Sukhbir Singh Badal's security detail had prevented a disaster at the last moment through remarkable quick thinking.
"The intention of Chaura to assassinate Sukhbir Badal is evident, as he narrowly missed his target with a bullet lodged in the wall of the Darshani Deodi within the Sri Darbar Sahib complex, yet this crucial detail is absent from the FIR," Majithia pointed out.
"Furthermore, referring to Chaura as a devotee instead of recognizing his actions as a premeditated crime serves only to absolve him of culpability."
Majithia also raised concerns about the reliability of Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who was aware of Chaura's status as a 'dreaded terrorist' from his previous inquiries during his time as Senior Superintendent of Police in Mohali back in 2013.
"In spite of the recovery of dangerous materials such as RDX, grenades, and an AK-47 from Chaura, along with documented evidence of his intent to kill Sukhbir Badal, the Amritsar Police failed to take action against him. Rather than arresting Chaura when he conducted reconnaissance at the Sri Darbar Sahib complex on December 3, Superintendent of Police Harpal Randhawa actually escorted the terrorist during his visit to the sacred site."
The leader of the Akali Dal asserted that only through the arrest and interrogation of Superintendent of Police Harpal Randhawa can the truth of this incident be uncovered.
