Bhopal, Jan 15 (NationPress) Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday called upon Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to ensure that the collaboration between the Sanchi Milk Board and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) is conducted with the welfare of farmers and employees in focus, rather than leaving them reliant on Amul.

In his correspondence addressed to Chief Minister Yadav, he asserted that farmers and members of the Sanchi Milk Board should be integrated into the newly established committee under the NDDB.

"I have been made aware that the Sanchi Milk Board is being transferred to the NDDB for reform. Hence, it is vital to prioritize the interests of farmers and employees of Sanchi," stated Digvijaya Singh's letter.

The Madhya Pradesh government formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NDDB in September 2024, aimed at boosting milk production in the state.

Chief Minister Yadav disclosed this information following a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who also oversees the Ministry of Cooperation in New Delhi.

Nevertheless, the Congress opposition raised concerns about this development, fearing it could pave the way for promoting Gujarat-based Amul products within Madhya Pradesh.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Vivek Tankha accused the government of attempting a covert takeover of Sanchi.

In contrast, the state government has refuted these allegations, asserting that the collaboration aims solely to enhance milk production in the state.

The MP BJP emphasized that the NDDB operates under the Union government's mandate to effectively manage Sanchi.

With a vision to establish the state as a national leader in milk production, the BJP government is implementing this initiative to provide necessary facilities, they stated.

Recently, the cabinet led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav approved a proposal to allocate Rs 1,500 crore to double milk production and elevate farmers' income over the next five years.
