Srinagar Police Dismantle Drug Trafficking Operation in Kashmir

Srinagar, Dec 16, (NationPress) In an ongoing effort to clamp down on drug trafficking, the Srinagar Police have taken into custody two individuals implicated in the distribution of narcotic substances, recovering a considerable amount of illegal drugs from them, as stated in an official report released on Monday.
The police indicated that during a routine checkpoint at Barthana Bund, their team halted an Alto vehicle occupied by the suspects, identified as Asif Ahmad Sheikh and Arif Ahmad Sheikh, both hailing from Babapora Barthana.
"Upon conducting a search, a significant quantity of illegal narcotics was confiscated from their possession," the police reported.
An FIR has been filed, and both suspects have been taken into custody. Furthermore, the vehicle utilized in the commission of the crime has been impounded.
The police highlighted that the two suspects are notorious drug traffickers actively involved in extensive narcotic distribution among the youth. Notably, one of the suspects, Arif Ahmad Sheikh, has a prior involvement in another narcotics-related case.
"During the investigation, it was revealed that Asif Ahmad Sheikh had constructed a double-storey residence in Babapora Barthana funded by the profits from illegal narcotics trafficking.
This property has been confiscated under the provisions of Section 68 of the NDPS Act, with notification to the appropriate authority for further legal proceedings," the statement continued.
