Chennai, Sep 16 (NationPress) In a significant boost to Tamil Nadu's industrial and cultural landscape, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated projects totaling Rs 67.34 crore and laid the groundwork for 20 new initiatives valued at Rs 78.57 crore on Tuesday.
Among the inaugurated projects are four new industrial estates developed by SIDCO across Thiruvallur, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, and Thiruvarur districts at a cumulative cost of Rs 28.33 crore, spanning nearly 78 acres.
These estates are projected to accommodate 334 units and generate approximately 5,400 direct and indirect jobs.
A standout project is the Kaverirajapuram estate in Thiruvallur, developed at Rs 12.16 crore with space for 74 units, expected to create jobs for 1,200 individuals. Similarly, the Muthur estate in Tirunelveli, covering 33 acres and featuring 91 units, is anticipated to provide 1,500 jobs. The Kadambadi Sculpture Park in Chengalpattu, with 111 units on 21 acres, aims to generate 1,800 jobs.
Moreover, the Korukkai estate in Thiruvarur, costing Rs 3.57 crore, will host 58 units and facilitate around 900 jobs. A new private estate located in Maruthadu village, Cuddalore, with an investment of Rs 3.60 crore, will accommodate 105 units, generating 1,800 jobs.
Infrastructure improvements worth Rs 24.61 crore have also been completed at the Arignar Anna Cooperative Estate in Kittampalayam, Coimbatore, benefiting 585 units.
Additional completed projects include a common sewage treatment plant at Thirumudivakkam, Kancheepuram, and a food processing center at Karumapuram, Namakkal.
The foundation stone was laid for various new initiatives, such as a workers’ hostel at Thirumudivakkam in Kancheepuram, costing Rs 29.27 crore, which will cater to 688 workers, agro-based industrial units at Perundurai in Erode with a Rs 15.23 crore investment, and infrastructure upgrades across 18 SIDCO estates totaling Rs 34.07 crore.
On this occasion, Stalin also unveiled a scholarship program via the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board, aimed at assisting 2,000 underprivileged Muslim students with Rs 10,000 each for higher education.
The event also marked the signing of a five-year MoU between Tamil Nadu’s Tourism, Culture, and HR&CE Department and France’s Centre-Val de Loire region to foster tourism and cultural exchanges.
Awards were conferred to seasoned artisans and exceptional craftspersons, while appointment orders were issued to 11 new assistant managers in SIDCO.
Ministers M.R.K. Panneerselvam, S.M. Nasar, and T.M. Anbarasan, along with Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials, were present at the event held in the state Secretariat.
