Supaul, Bihar: Violent Clashes Erupt Over Land Dispute, Five Individuals Taken Into Custody

Patna, Dec 6 (NationPress) At least five individuals were apprehended after violent confrontations broke out between locals and the police in Supaul, Bihar on Thursday.

The altercation resulted in injuries to both police personnel and civilians, leading to the detention of five people, including two women.

According to police reports, over 100 locals protested, demanding action regarding a lingering land dispute, and marched towards the Triveniganj police station.

The demonstrators proceeded to obstruct the roadway near Durga temple in the Triveniganj market, chanting slogans against the police, which caused significant disruptions.

As tensions escalated, the crowd became aggressive, throwing stones at police officers, resulting in injuries to SHO Rajiv Kumar. In response, police employed a lathi-charge to disperse the gathering.

Following the unrest, the police detained five individuals, including two women.

An official reported that the injured SHO, along with others, received medical treatment while an investigation into the incident commenced.

Security measures have been heightened to avert any resurgence of violence, although tensions persist in the area.

“The exact cause of the local upheaval remains uncertain. Preliminary investigations indicate it could be linked to a land dispute or personal conflicts among residents. Further inquiries are being undertaken to determine the underlying reasons for the public discontent,” stated Shambhu Nath, the SDM of the Triveniganj subdivision in Supaul district.

“Currently, the situation is fully under control. The matter is subject to a thorough investigation,” Shambhu Nath added.
