Surat, April 18 (NationPress) In a significant leap forward for infrastructure in Gujarat's Surat, a newly constructed underpass close to Budia Chowkdi was officially inaugurated on Friday.

The initiative, aimed at alleviating traffic woes and enhancing connectivity in the area, was launched by Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Paatil during a ceremony at Ramji Wadi.

In his address, Paatil reminisced about personal experiences and the remarkable transformation of the region.

“The inauguration today brings back memories from 1967 when my father was stationed at the Sachin GIDC police station. Sachin was merely a small village back then. It was hard to envision that this area and its surroundings would experience such unprecedented growth,” he remarked.

Paatil noted that India's progress has reached levels that were once deemed impossible. “Now, within a mere 25-kilometre radius, development is evident in every direction. In the past, there were even concerns about bridge safety. Today, the bridges constructed under the ministry led by Nitin Gadkari showcase world-class design and execution,” he stated, emphasizing how even older colonial double-decker bridges have been replaced with modern alternatives. This new underpass is poised to assist millions of commuters, alleviating congestion and reducing travel times while significantly enhancing road safety.

Paatil commended the local and state authorities for their efforts in meeting urgent needs and acknowledged the contributions of industrial stakeholders that made such projects viable.

He also touched upon broader development initiatives, including maintaining law and order in Gujarat and the installation of a deep-sea pipeline extending from Umargam to Vapi and Valsad, part of a larger Rs 5,000-crore infrastructure plan. “The regions adjacent to national highways have witnessed extraordinary progress.

”With enhanced infrastructure, citizens will not only save time but also minimize the risk of accidents. These advancements are a testament to our commitment to traffic management and development,” he affirmed.

On the subject of water conservation, Paatil outlined the government's initiative to establish water recharge systems across 27,000 villages as part of a significant water conservation effort.

Encouraging community involvement, particularly in Budia, he expressed, “Modiji’s vision is that water is life. By recharging rainwater into the ground through bore structures, we can prevent water shortages and guarantee sustainable agriculture.”
