Ahmedabad, Sep 5 (NationPress) Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport has launched a cutting-edge Integrated Cargo Terminal (ICT) featuring over 20,000 square metres of operational space and an improved capacity to process 200,000 metric tonnes (MT) of cargo annually, as stated in a company announcement on Friday.
This upgrade signifies a major enhancement in scale and efficiency, replacing the previous setup that could handle only 50,000 MT each year.
The ICT at SVPI Airport is designed to enhance efficiency and reliability in cargo transportation, enabling quicker and more dependable processing while serving a wider catchment area across Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.
The facility meets high standards, featuring comprehensive CCTV, secured access, and advanced screening technology.
“Innovations like Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) at truck gates, Handheld Terminal (HHT) operations, and barcode tracking provide real-time visibility for stakeholders, establishing a new benchmark for supply chain technology in the region,” the statement indicated.
A specialized cold-chain zone has been established to maintain product quality, while advanced features such as high dock counts, ball transfer decking, and automated machinery will enhance efficiency during peak times.
The ICT merges world-class infrastructure with digital processes, creating a state-of-the-art platform.
Reflecting Gujarat's diverse industrial landscape, the ICT accommodates a wide range of cargo, including e-commerce products, automotive parts, pharmaceuticals, valuables, and perishables. High-value exports internationally include engineering goods, garments, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.
The terminal is equipped to handle emerging sectors and premium cargo such as temperature-controlled shipments, electronic components, oversized equipment, live animals, and fast-moving e-commerce products to bolster the state's growth.
SVPIA has committed to ongoing investments in infrastructure, digital systems, and multimodal connectivity to improve speed, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, providing a significant advantage to industries in Gujarat.
SVPI Airport continues to focus on creating a modern, efficient, and robust logistics ecosystem for Ahmedabad and the western region.
Ahmedabad International Airport Limited is operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises.
In FY2024-25, SVPIA managed 13.3 million passengers and nearly 280 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) daily.
