Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport Reports Significant Growth in Passenger and Cargo Traffic in Q3

Ahmedabad, Jan 7 (NationPress) Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), revealed on Tuesday a remarkable increase in passenger traffic during the third quarter (Q3) of FY25. Over 3.5 million passengers traveled to and from the airport, representing a growth of over 18 percent compared to the previous year's total of 3 million during Q3 FY24.

Aircraft traffic movements (ATMs) also experienced an increase of 15 percent, with SVPI Airport managing more than 27,000 ATMs throughout the October-December period.

On December 22, SVPI Airport recorded 44,253 passenger movements along with 324 ATMs, marking the highest for the current financial year. This was followed closely by December 13 and December 12, where the airport facilitated 43,881 passengers with 318 ATMs and 43,408 passengers with 325 ATMs, respectively, as reported by SVPI Airport, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd.

The airport in Ahmedabad has seen improvements in infrastructure, innovations, and the addition of new destinations, including the extended check-in hall at Terminal-2, an inter-terminal electric shuttle service, Wi-Fi coupon dispensers for travelers with non-Indian SIM cards, and new flights to Da Nang, Guwahati, Dimapur, Thiruvananthapuram, Kolhapur, and Kuwait, along with extra frequencies to Kochi and Kolkata.

In December, Ahmedabad Airport was the sole airport in India honored for its outstanding commitment to energy conservation, receiving a prestigious Certificate of Merit at the National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2024, organized by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, as stated by the company.

Furthermore, with multiple international airlines now in operation, the cargo numbers experienced a significant rise of 17 percent in Q3 compared to the same period in the previous financial year.

SVPI Airport managed over 17,900 million tonnes (MT) of cargo, including over 1,850 MT of international cargo, which saw an increase of over 300 percent compared to Q3 figures from the last financial year.
