Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 10 (NationPress) Tomorrow marks the beginning of the Tamil Nadu Class 10 public examinations under the State Board syllabus, with over nine lakh students expected to participate throughout the State.
The School Education Department has announced that these exams will take place from March 11 to April 6. On the inaugural day, students will tackle the language paper, which encompasses Tamil along with other language subjects.
To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examinations, extensive arrangements have been put in place. A total of 9,09,397 candidates will be examined at 4,219 centres located throughout Tamil Nadu.
This group includes 8,82,806 students from 12,467 schools, along with 26,196 private candidates and 395 inmates from prisons.
Additionally, 12,292 students will require the support of scribes during the examinations, as reported by the department. To oversee the examination process, 49,542 teachers have been designated as room invigilators.
In an effort to prevent any malpractices, 4,954 fixed and flying squads have been deployed across the State.
Special monitoring teams consisting of District Collectors, Chief Educational Officers, and representatives from the Revenue Department have been organized to supervise the examination proceedings.
Furthermore, armed police personnel will be present at 300 question paper storage centres around the clock to safeguard the examination materials.
All examination centres have been outfitted with necessary facilities, including drinking water, adequate seating, electricity, ventilation, lighting, and toilet facilities, to ensure a comfortable environment for the students.
Strict guidelines have been issued for both students and invigilators, including a prohibition on mobile phones or any electronic devices within the examination halls.
Students are required to write their answers using blue or black ink pens only, and the use of color pens or pencils is not allowed.
Candidates are further instructed not to include any codes, names, or examination numbers on their answer sheets.
Each answer booklet will come with a cover sheet displaying the student’s photograph, registration number, and subject details. Students must confirm these details and sign the sheet, while room supervisors will ensure that the answer sheets are collected and separated correctly.
Authorities have warned that any form of malpractice, including impersonation, misconduct with exam officials, or tampering with answer sheets, will result in strict disciplinary action.
Offenders might face a ban of up to three years or even permanent disqualification from public examinations. Schools found to be facilitating irregularities risk losing their accreditation.
The evaluation of answer sheets will commence following the exams, with results expected to be announced on May 20.
To assist students and parents, the department has established an examination control room, operational from 8 AM to 8 PM on all examination days. Queries and complaints can be made by calling 94983 83075 or 94983 83076, or through the School Education Department’s toll-free helpline 14417, according to officials.
