In Patna on August 16, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a campaign song aimed at rallying support for the Vote Adhikar Yatra, which is set to commence in Sasaram on Sunday. Through social media, Tejashwi urged the citizens of Bihar to participate in the yatra in significant numbers.
He conveyed, "No one should be deprived of their rights; the essence of freedom must remain intact, and no one's vote should be compromised," during the song's introduction.
The Vote Adhikar Yatra will be co-led by Rahul Gandhi of Congress alongside Tejashwi, along with other allies from the Grand Alliance.
The campaign anthem portrays Tejashwi as "alert and vigilant," emphasizing the imperative to thwart autocracy to guarantee that "no vote is suppressed and the flame of democracy continues to shine."
Allegations have emerged from the Grand Alliance that the Election Commission is systematically purging names from the voter list in Bihar under the influence of the BJP.
The opposition contends that this is a strategy to "manipulate" the forthcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025.
The yatra is designed to cover 23 districts in Bihar, with a planned three-day pause at the midpoint.
Starting from Sasaram in the Rohtas district on Sunday, it will proceed to Aurangabad on August 18, followed by Gaya and Nawada on August 19, with a break on August 20.
The INDIA bloc Yatra will continue from Lakhisarai-Sheikhpura on August 21, moving to Munger and Bhagalpur on August 22, then to Katihar on August 23, and finally reaching Purnea and Araria on August 24.
The leaders of the INDIA bloc will pause on August 25, resuming their journey on August 26 from Supaul, arriving at Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur on August 27, followed by Sitamarhi and Motihari on August 28, and finally reaching Betiah, Gopalganj, and Siwan on August 29. A break is scheduled for August 31, with the campaign concluding at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on September 1 during a large rally.
According to opposition leaders, the purpose of the yatra is to inform the public about the supposed irregularities in the voter list due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
The yatra's itinerary was finalized in a meeting at Rahul Gandhi's residence in Delhi on August 7.
