Gaya, Aug 18 (NationPress) As the Voter Adhikar Yatra, led by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, arrived in Gaya district on its second day, leaders from the INDIA bloc emphasized that the Election Commission of India (ECI) will eventually need to submit to their campaign against alleged vote chori (vote theft).
The yatra, which commenced from Sasaram on Sunday, made its way to Aurangabad in the evening, where the two leaders addressed an enormous public gathering before taking a break for the night.
This initiative aims to heighten awareness concerning alleged discrepancies in the ECI's Special Intensive Review (SIR) of the Bihar voter list and to gather support from the public in anticipation of the upcoming Assembly elections.
President of the All India Mahila Congress, Alka Lamba, informed IANS, "Traveling through Sasaram, Rohtas Nagar, and Aurangabad, Gaya marks our third district, with plans to continue further. This endeavor will span at least 16 days, covering 1,300 kilometers and 25 districts."
Detailing the broader objectives of the yatra, she stated, "Our goal is to create job opportunities for Bihar's rural youth who are compelled to migrate, ensure adequate housing for the underprivileged, and provide quality education for students. The tragic case of a nine-year-old rape victim who succumbed to insufficient care at a Patna hospital highlights the urgent issues we prioritize."
She also accused the ruling party of distorting the democratic process, asserting, "Locals are expressing that they do not support the ruling party, yet it continues to win. This indicates vote chori here. The entire voter list is compromised, and we are fighting against this injustice. The ECI will ultimately have to yield to our struggle."
Congress MP Akhilesh Prasad Singh shared similar sentiments, stating to IANS, "There is immense enthusiasm and public backing for Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. As long as the SIR is active, this wave of support will continue to grow. We are committed to ensuring that the citizens of Bihar do not lose their rights. Rahul Gandhi has embarked on a 1,300-kilometer journey to achieve this aim."
RJD MP Abhay Kushwaha criticized the ruling party, saying, "The entire Bharatiya Janata Party is not just acting in Bihar but nationwide to manipulate the Election Commission for vote rigging and theft. This reflects the outrage of the common citizenry, and such anger is palpable."
He declared that the yatra will persist until the decision regarding the SIR is revoked.
"The BJP-led NDA must retract its decision to conduct the SIR. The public is aware that their votes are being suppressed. If we don't back them now, they will not support us in the future. We will ensure that the public's votes are respected moving forward," Kushwaha concluded.
